My Book: Lunchbox Millionaire (How to be a millionaire)
Lunchbox Millionaire
Foreword
It begins with an idea. A developed
conversation, the mind produces questions, consistently looking for answers. We
are born to succeed, and through a series of trial and error, Many Millionaires
fail consistently, are ridiculed for their ideas, before they achieve the final
success. It is a process of elimination, last man/ woman standing, despite
rejections, consistent ridicule, and objection to such farfetched idealism. The
product meets completion. Targets are set, goals are accomplished and deadlines
met. It is how we utilize time and a wealth of ideas that define us, wealth is
as much about courage and consistency as it is about networking, understanding
your competition, and marketing effectively. Giants in Business such as Bill
Gates and Donald trump, identify success as discipline the ability to see
beyond the contempt of others and utilize wisdom effectively. Success is born
of failure. Lunchbox Millionaire is the secret to how they succeed.
Chapter One
Pain provides much promise, and through Chaos
we find order. Many people invest in the dream of becoming a Millionaire,
without paying too much attention to what it takes to become a great leader in
business. It is more than the investment of Capital, acquisitions and turnover,
business is about making a profit, and sustainability. Finding a Niche
understanding the needs, and demands of your target audience, and capitalizing
on your ideas. In 2006 Alex Tewy was struggling to pay his university fees,
after much deliberation, his mind was put to task. Tewy produced a product
called the Million Dollar Homepage, selling online advertising in the form of
pixel space, to companies for one pound per Pixel, Over a million pixels were
bought by such companies as Coca Cola, chipendales, women’s Pixels. The million
dollar Homepage is now acknowledge as a piece of Internet history and Alex
Tewy paid for more than his school fees.
In crisis ideas are often born
whether we utilize our mental power, is a choice we have to make within
ourselves. A factory of ideas define us, self is wealth, those who invest
wisely in building up their mental stratosphere, often go extremely far, those
who are keen observers and can spot a gap in the market. David and Catherine Cook became teen
millionaires by creating my yearbook dot com, it was pitched as the my space of
the high school year book, and it’s initial startup was $250,000 dollars. They
were financially supported by their older brother Geoff. We all have various ideas of making money.
Whether it’s about producing the next blockbusting bestselling novel, the
teenager who starts a campaign selling Lemonade outside to raise money for
cancer research, or the tech Geek who designs gadgets for fun, suddenly
realizing that these ideas could become more than a conversation at the
breakfast table. An idea can become a product, which makes a turnover, we can
make profit from things we enjoy. In 1990 Joannne Rowling was sitting on a
delayed train heading from Manchester to London. A single mother struggling on
a State benefit, she decided to see beyond her financial trap and tap into the
realm of imagination. A boy was born, half wizard, half muggle, and a series of
Magical adventures, with loyal friends many of us dream about. The Harry potter
series of books sold over a million copies, at one point the guardian named J.k
Rowling as one of the richest paid women in the world. Later on it was
discovered the books were making Joanne over a million copies a minute, of
royalties alone, not to mention products, and the Harry Potter theme park. What
would have happened if she had simply acknowledged that she was a grown woman,
who had bills to pay and should grow up?
There are things we are told often
conversations that distract us from the importance of an idea.
Your too old for that, you don’t
have the funds, stop dreaming, start job hunting; you need to take life more
seriously. Or simply your ideas are not up to par. Catherine Cookson another
great writer of our time with over a billion books published, then made into TV
series, was rejected so many times, at one point publishing houses begged her
to stop writing, she was in fact wasting her time. Cookson was later published
and her books have become worldwide international bestsellers.
Ideas can often make us self
conscious especially when it comes to voicing them aloud. What will the people
around us think? What will their opinion of us be? Where will we get the money
from? Most of us assume that wealthy people are born with a silver spoon in
their mouths. This is rarely the case, what they have is the ability to utilize
their time, and channel their imagination effectively. They are able to look at
Niche, opportunity, market, target audience, and make the right connections. We
are often dumbfounded by some of the most ridiculous ideas that turned
individuals into walking ATM machines. Yet it was their knowledge of the
business model, market structure, and an understanding of Capitalism and
economics. As much as we are told that
everyone has a book in them, everyone strangely enough has a million dollar
idea in them. The problem is, there’s a difference between acting upon ideas
and talking about them to make yourself sound intelligent. Some of the most
bizarre ideas when pitched appropriately with the right marketing campaign
became Million Dollar block busting hits.
One of the most hysterical was the Pet Rock. The idea of selling a rock
is as farfetched as it could possibly get, but one man so determined was he to
triumph, he produced a product that can only be acknowledged as a windup to the
working Man’s pocket. Dahl was a former advertising executive, he sold the
rocks for $3.95 on a bed of hay, and the companies estimated profit was $15
million in just the first six months. As
ridiculous as this idea sounds, it made a profit, and became a fully fledged
virus in the States.
Some ideas are so bizarre they have
to be brilliant, the simplicity of them, makes us the audience wonder why
someone would invest in a product such as this. Yet they do. It is often the
simplest ideas which leave us glaring at computer and TV screens in awe saying
are people actually buying this? Did they make this person richer? We scan our
near empty bank accounts in frustration, holding back hiss curses of abuse
whilst secretly thinking; I wish I had the guts to do that. Another ingenious
idea which made a squinting profit was the $500 mm yellow smiley face by
Bernard and Murray Spain.
Ideas have shaped our past, present
and future. The ability to construct an idea, with the promise of its animated
potential, makes it more than an idea. It makes it achievable, how do you go
from seed to fully fledged animal. The
idea from being scribbled on sketch pad becomes transformed into product, and
we market in order to sell it accordingly.
The Business Model
It is about researching thoroughly and paying
attention to your Business plan, fully understanding your Business model. In
trying to construct a business model you have to first be clear on what your
market requires, if you are working on your business model have a definitive
hook. What are your business objectives? Whether you’re selling lemonade and
iced tea to passersby, or producing ice tea to raise Money for Cancer research,
what are your objective and your goal? Do you have a target you’re focused upon,
and what is the structure of your business?
Whether you plan to write a business plan or not, a strong understanding
along with in depth qualitative Research is key. For example Aidan is a Graphic designer, he’s
a bright pupil who is often complimented on his ability to design unique items
of clothing, he’s popular at school, and uses the internet regularly. He’s
active on such things as Facebook, Stumble upon, MySpace, My yearbook, twitter,
and has his own website and blog, the blog acquiring over 50 million hits and
the Website gaining only 10 Million.
Aidan could use both blog and website to advertise and market himself as
a professional designer. Add Google ad sense, and MCPc and PPC to his websites
and blog. Sell advertising space to a creative audience and give out flyers and
supply a bi monthly Newsletter for those who are interested in his products, or
pitching their own.
What if Aidan wanted to pitch his
product along with his business plan, he would have to produce a title that
would appeal to audience, and know exactly what is trending at present,
utilizing the search engine criteria, understanding how to provide an improved
product, and give the customer exactly what is required.
For example Aidan could decide to
call his brand Aidan’s aces, an authentic design that specializes in Sports
fashion wear. ‘A striking look for the athlete in you.’
His objective summary may begin.
Aidan’s aces will be a distinct
brand which specializes in promoting Self confidence in Young adults.
Sportswear is not just about elasticity we provide a striking look, we
diversify the brand, allowing the athlete to tap into their creative avenue.
Although there are Market giants such as Nike, with the Just do it Campaign,
Adidas, and Echo, our brand provides something completely different. The
ability to be less than uniform and not one of the sheep. Aidan’s aces come
with designer pen and coloring for the young audience those who want to
experiment with design. As much as we all like to be part of something, many of
us like to be acknowledged as our own individual selves. Some Teens who feel
threatened by what Sports attire represent, such as the Goths and the
alternatives, will want clothing which distinctly identifies them. Our hook
will be, Aidan’s aces, your fashion tattoo, an opportunity for them to
creatively express themselves as required. It will be worn by teens age 11- 18.
Our mission is to develop into one
of the leading brands in Sports Fashion.
Our goal is to be recognized and worn by famous athletes and celebrities
worldwide, be the face of campaigns encouraging people with disabilities into
Sport, and making enough money to develop the Aidan’s Ace charity/trust fund
for young up and coming athletes wanting to venture into sports but not having
the financial backing. After our first turnover, Aidan’s Aces will sponsor
Sports days; provide equipment for schools, and books for the Sports Science
program. We will also have an international travel fund which will aid the
travel of our athletes around the world. Aidan’s Aces will be the face of
change for the up and coming athlete.
Understanding Your Finance
The key to financial freedom is not
just in frugality, but understanding the language of money. Be able to define
key things, which can bring you a turn over and increase capital. An asset for example is defined in the
dictionary as a single item of ownership, which has exchange value. Items of ownership which can be transformed
into cash, total resources of a person or business, as cash, notes and accounts
receivable, securities , inventories, goodwill, fixtures, machinery, or real
estate. It is usually a list of items of which are detailed on a balance sheet
especially in relation to liabilities and capital. It can be defined as all
property available for the payment of debts, especially of a bankrupt or
insolvent firm or person.
When people venture into initial
business ideas or goals, at the first loss of income they are terrified to
venture further, and hold unto Capital for dear life. In business be ready to lose money because it
is something you are guaranteed. Every successful business man or woman has
made a loss before they eventually make a sufficient turnover[a1] . In 1998 Bill Bartman a one time billionaire,
filed for bankruptcy. Bartman came back ten times stronger by writing a series
of extremely inspirational books about the lessons he learned. Bartman’s first book titled billionaire
secrets to success; this was followed by Bailout riches. Each book sold over a
million copies. Pay attention to key
things such as overhead costs. Co
founder of curves international Heavin started
his first gym in 1976, it was an instant success and he had banked his
first million with ease. Yet when it reached 1986 his financial purse strings
were in a tangle, his overhead costs began to exceed his amount the Company was
bringing in. Overheads are defined as the general fixed cost of running a
business; see it as your budget shopping list. Over heads look as such key
things as rent, lighting, and heating expenses, which cannot be charged or
attributed to a specific product or part of the work operation. Overhead includes core structures such as
accounting, which is key to a functioning business. Accounting is the system or the organization
for setting up, maintaining, and auditing the books of a firm. It is defined as
a simple art of analyzing financial position and operating results of a
business house from a study of its sales, purchases, overhead, it is effective
book keeping. There are useful programs which aid the ease of effective book
keeping. Keeping good accounts help you with business negotiations, pay
attention to gaps in the market, and understand where your business or your
idea is making a profit and a loss. There are some fantastic Software’s which
make documenting accounts much easier to manage. Sage 50 complete accounting, and book keeper,
and account Edge, each system is simple to use and comes with an easy way to
track how funds are being managed.
In business you are guaranteed to
make poor investment choices at some points, for example the producer of Rich
Dad poor dad Robert Kiyosaki another billionaire filed for bankruptcy in April,
only to mighty climb the business totem pole once again.
Many venture into business, setting
up structure and strategy. They become quickly deflated when they make a loss
or their ideas were not welcomed. When
they are not the Giants they expected to be, much of the logic and diplomacy is
lost. They quickly begin to see it as an obstacle course with little to no
promise. Pockets become pinched, and
fear trumps, the need to Venture into the water, and see what fish they can
catch. People often ignore the small
things, or the little ideas they can use to increase their capital. In 2004
after being made redundant from a printing factory, a woman who was jobless for
six years invested in the flyers we often ignore through the letter box.
The Avon cosmetics brand. Debbie Davis
31 and her partner have earned over $1.4 million pounds selling Avon
cosmetics. When the advert flashes
across the screen many of us lean back in our seats, pick up the remote control
and flick from channel to channel, not wanting to abuse the little finance we
have. Miss Davis, who was raised up on a Council estate, built up a team of
8,000 representatives and was able to invest in a Mercedes Benz, and a newly
renovated home. Will you have customer
representatives marketing your product or idea? How much will you pay them per
hour? If funds are tight what other opportunities can you give them, a chance
to market their credentials, a chance to network and meet potential clients for
their own business venture, and a chance to learn about your business model,
maybe they are interested in starting up their own financial structure. How
will you manage your time? How will you organize your networks? Location is
key. Positioning and most of all your market pitch. How will you approach your
audience? How will you make initial contact, will it be face to face, over the
telephone, sending out a bulk email? How will you use the internet effectively?
There are other success stories we rarely stumble upon, yet we learn quickly
the key to succeeding in business, is structure, order, and consistency. Forever living products was founded in 1978
by Rex Maughan and is the largest private company in Arizona. Forever living
the company made over $30 million dollars annually. Rex Maughan didn’t just make his dreams come
true with the forever living Aloe Vera product brand, his courage opened doors
for many others, and they did more than dream. They were able to acquire the lifestyle
they wanted afforded to them. Anatoly
and Natalya Yakubchik, came to New
Jersey from Russia in 1996. At first their goal was to earn $800 per month, by
December 2007 they far superceeded that goal and were making more than they
earned in their daily jobs. Walt Disney
for example went bankrupt several times before building Disneyland. The key to becoming a Millionaire is the
ability to be observant. As Walt Disney sat at a Bench watching his children
play he noticed how ragged and Filthy the Small amusement Park was. Perez
Hilton a Millionaire blogger, shows us
with ease how finance can come through imagination. Mario Armando Lavandeira jr
known professionally as Perez Hilton. Perez Hilton quickly afforded him enough
money to buy such extravagances as diamonds, and other luxury items. The blog
which specializes in pertaining to Celebrity gossip makes over a million
turnover a year, due to the amount of hits it gets per day.
Rejecting Rejection
Chapter Two
The key to being a successful
person in business and enterprise is cultivating a strict discipline and not
allowing your weak moments to topple you. Many of our successful Millionaires
refuse to take no for an answer. Pop icon
Madonna was rejected by Jimmy Lenner, he described her music as being
lacking in material. In 1982 Madonna was signed by Sire records and sold over
10 Million Copies. Andy Warhol how many
of the millionaires of our time have become triumphant. We have all experienced
moments where we have felt extremely weak, where their triumph have been short
lived and all they could succumb succumb to was a feeling of distress and
disappointment. Failure makes us learn, depending on who we are. Those who take
their joy in your failures will have their joy short-lived. You have to believe
in you that you can become as great as you see yourself. People will try and
destroy your very inner core; they may focus on destroying your spirit because
it validates their lack of self esteem. Your mistakes make them feel better
about their life. Just remember every millionaire has failed, and been
compromised. There are many millionaires
who failed; some of them become millionaires[a2]
ten times over[a3] [a4] [a5] [a6] [a7] [a8] [a9] [a10] [a11] [a12] [a13] [a14] [a15] [a16] [a17] [a18] [a19] . [a20] [a21] [a22]
Website Marketing is online real
estate. It is property. We think of those who lost Money and became extremely
rich, keep it simple, be consistent with your ideas. Be business minded focus
your goals and be goal orientated. Keep it simple; be consistent with your
ideas. Be business minded in all your projects[a23] [a24] ; know the importance of structures. There
are eight core principles to wealth. Finance is education. Money is all about
mindset, network, and socialize regularly. Some people choose to invest in an[a25] office. When you make an initial
investment, test drives your project first. Be focused. Things won’t take off immediately. . The
achievement of wealth is in the diligence we put in. It is in the ability to
maximize brain power. That scribble pad by your bedside, that Tape recorder on
your Iphone , those long[a26] [a27] strolls you take in the Midday sun . As
the ideas fill your head, fill the page. Challenge your imagination[a28] [a29] , dare to dream, dreams are what society
was founded upon. Man had the audacity[a30] to believe[a31] [a32] [a33] [a34] [a35] that he should go to the moon, then he had
the audacity to build aero planes[a36] .
Challenge your imagination, dare to dream, dreams are what society[a37] was founded upon. Man had the[a38] [a39] [a40] audacity to believe that he could go to the moon, and then he had the audacity to build aero planes. First came up with the concept that human beings can fly those around him either giggled or were convinced he was crazy. Money isn’t an illusion, neither are ideas. Break down those ideas, make them palpable and believable. Success is 1 % talent, the rest of it is diligence, guts and imagination have drive, and Stamina, but most importantly have order in executing your plays. A fruitful mind is a mind that leads to successful endeavors. The world is full of dreams if you dare to step beyond simple dreams, and put action behind your ideas, you’re on the path towards financial freedom.

Chapter three
What is a lunchbox millionaire? We live in a
Microwaveable society, a lunchbox millionaire is someone who can apply business
principles to the procedure of a simple idea and make a turnover. I was often
told that if you can make a pound out of something you can make a million
pounds out of something. One of the most powerful weapons in wealth
maximization is your imagination, and the order or structure of which you do
things. Wealth is about Wisdom, and your ability to network and connect. Use
your emotions to motivate you, use your experiences to drive and steer you
forward. It is important to consistently push yourself. My journey towards
becoming a millionaire started with one thing, a passion for ideas, and a
hunger to shape an already evolving world. Every day, and every night I had
ideas which ultimately got my juices flowing, and were like oxygen in the body.
Passion does this to you; promise eliminates the possibility of anything else
in existence. When you have a goal do it with due diligence the mind is a
fascinating thing. Our minds are like elastic when stretched they can
accomplish almost anything. Your mind is a powerful weapon, and your brain is a
power tool. Use it as though it were a machine. Have a structure in place, do
it in bite sized chunks and orchestrate a plan to take you to wherever you need
to get to. Some of the ideas had already
been produced like a Solar powered mobile phone, A phone which didn’t need to
be charged via electricity, and of course the more hysterical ones like a doggy
treadmill, for dogs to exercise if they hadn’t been valued, and my favorite of
all, an idea I concocted a doggy day care centre where dogs could socialize and
their owners could enjoy the comfort of a Café and warm cups of Coffee, share
stories about the dramatics that come with taking care of a dog.
One of the most important Wealth
principles of all time knows your mindset, know your market, and understand
your industry. Where do they like to
eat? Drink? Where are their favorite hangouts? What is their budget? What type
of books appeal to them? What are their dreams? People buy certain products
based on a dream and their ability to visualize themselves using this product,
and establish how the product will change their lives. How this product will add
Surplus value to their existence, and how their business will become a
commodity. For example the Nike just do
it campaign became a hit not simply because of its product and packaging
designs. Exterior sells, yet it was the promise of beating fears, and
alienating procrastination. It was the psychology behind the marketing
campaign. The tick represents self validation. I am working hard to beat my
fears, I am an athlete, I am a machine I feel no fear, I am unstoppable, I can
do anything.
Chapter three
Lunchbox millionaire. We are all
Millionaires in the making, yet most of us don’t utilize the power of our
imagination, and the time we waste, we could produce ideas effectively. Champion your ideas, structure them with
diligence, an idea with the right connections can turn you into a lunchbox
millionaire. What is a lunchbox Millionaire? A lunchbox millionaire is the
simple ideas we take for granted. The changes, the adjustments we see in
products that can make them easier. It’s the small changes we make, we all have
the potential to expand our minds, elongate and stretch it with the ideas we
have daily. The key to business or becoming successful in business or in any
creative enterprise is challenging to say the least, your fears and all your
insecurities. Challenging procrastination and finding ways you can contribute
to the economy, to social enterprise, and most of all effectively to your
community. Synchronize your mind, have fun with your ideas, create a balance
because that is key to business and finance. You need to be a thorough disciple
of discipline. . Be focused and be goal orientated. Execute your plan and
produce a thorough business outline to follow, so in case there are any gaps in
the market or any problems you find yourself in you can go back to the outline
and utilize it to execution. You have options. You have choices. Execute your plan and produce a thorough
strategy. Laziness doesn’t get the job done. Imagination and creativity ensure
that every procedure orchestrated is fulfilled in its entirety. The concept of money is intimidating to many,
we assume we have to have the mind of Einstein, be at the top of the Wealth
pyramid. Money is about mindset. The ability to be creative when investors
aren’t around. Money is ultimately
always about imagination. The first key rule is knowing your industry. If
you’re dealing with young people in the Music/ fashion industry, what appeals
to them? What is their hook? What will sell and what will reel them in?
Look at other successful people in
industry customers, motivation, drive, stamina, success stories, ask yourself a
series of questions. Will I see this through to the end? Will I be simple
minded about this? Is this captivating
enough? Will I be passionate about this? The reality is, if you cannot answer
yes to any of these questions you cannot
see yourself as a millionaire, but if you have the mindset to win you can
accomplish anything. Life is all about discipline. Champions are all about
discipline. Be focused be goal orientated, and most of all be hungry, cast your
fears aside. Validate yourself every
single day. Set your goals at a higher level; don’t let your fears intimidate
you. Have stamina, tap into your inner wisdom. The questions we seek are often
within. Progress pushes us, when we feel we are moving towards a goal and we
can accomplish it, idea of progress, the idea of visualization. Be captivated
by your dreams. Be a slave to your own imagination. Action is about
imagination. Action is about passion. Action is about drive, push yourself to
the edge of that precipice and break through, whether your back is to the wall
or not. Have a vision, see your dreams
realized, and make them real. Be conscious; get yourself in a clear mind set.
One of the most important Wealth
principles of all time knows your market, know your market, and understand your
industry. Where do they live? Where do they eat? Where do they shop? What do they like to eat? Drink? Where are
their favorite hangouts? What is their budget? What type of hook words appeal
to them? What are their dreams? People buy certain products based on a dream?
For example[a41]
the Nike ticks success wasn’t just about the effective exterior of the
design, it was the ad campaign, and the psychology used to target the audience.
The tick represented self validation. I am worthy enough to be an athlete.

crucify yourself when you fail, we are only human. Human beings make choices
all the time where we find ourselves null and void. We question the decisions
we make. We often question who we are, live life with a sense of fearlessness. The
reality is, if you cannot answer yes to any of these questions you cannot see
yourself as a millionaire, but if you have the mindset to win you can
accomplish anything. Champions are all about discipline. Be focused, be goal orientated, but most of

yourself to the edge of that precipice and break through, even though your back
is to the wall. Have a vision see your
dreams realized and make them real
. Be conscious get yourself in a clear
mind set. Product, industry, have a traffic of ideas filling up your mind. Be greedy when it comes to your ideas. The
key to success is thinking like a leader you have to believe you’ve already
made it, you have to believe you’d already hit that goal . Condition your mind
every day, put yourself in a peak state and keep going, be militant about it,
be focused and and have a list of why’s? Why are you attempting this goal? See
yourself expanded. Socialize and network with people who have achieved more,
and whose lives are more fulfilled. Know the result, have the end in
sight. See it as a must not a should.
See the result, see your players on the checkerboard and play the game of
life. See it to believe it? No, you must
believe it first. Believe with absolute certainty; believe without fear that
you can hit your goal.
How do you become a millionaire? If
you can make one pound with a project you can make one million pounds with a
project. Tap into your market, believe in your potential. Reinforce your beliefs
you have unlimited potential , tap into that potential, those questions you ask
yourself will reaffirm and revalidate your hunger , prophesize your wealth ,
burn the boats, it’s this option and nothing else we take intense action
because we believe , the passion spears us forward. Focus, drive and
determination. Meditate on your thoughts, be creative with ideas and fuel your
imagination.
Be a dreamer. The older we get, the
more we are brainwashed out of dreaming. People say we have to be the more
mature. We all know the old adage when I
was younger I acted like a child, now I’m older I put childish things
away. We grow up, we become systemized,
disciples of who society tells us to be. Then people often tell us the
importance of not letting our imagination get the better of you, there’s bills
to pay. Other people have a habit of reigning on your parade without meaning to
don’t they? Life is about challenges. Challenges? Yes, challenges we jump
through hoops for a reason, because the end goal is to see our dream realized.
Your mind should be like an athlete. Really let go, Challenge yourself
regularly, you need momentum to fulfill your accomplishments, once you start,
don’t stop. Be driven. Have the mind of a warrior. Lunchbox Millionaire is a
millionaire that can take the simple things, extend and translate them, and add
value. Success is about adding surplus value to your customers. We have to see
our accomplishments within. Perceptions
about money are based on the upbringing we have. To be successful with finance
you have to educate yourself. Wealth knowledge is the key to empowerment. Have
a financial education. Wealth is about knowledge. The most powerful principles
of wealth understands how money works, money is about understanding. Financial
education is the key to successful living. Affluent people raise their children
up to be financially empowered.
What is wealth empowerment? Wealth
empowerment is one of the core principles of financial education wealth
empowerment is about six core principles. Principle one, as we initially
discussed. Knowing your market and understanding your audience.

successful Ford Motor Company.

R. H. Macy: Most people are familiar with this large
department store chain, but Macy didn't always have it easy. Macy started seven
failed business before finally hitting big with his store in New York City.

F. W. Woolworth: Some may not know this name today, but
Woolworth was once one of the biggest names in department stores in the U.S.

and was not allowed to wait on customers because his boss said he lacked the
sense needed to do so.
4.
Soichiro Honda: The billion-dollar business that is Honda
began with a series of failures and fortunate turns of luck. Honda was turned
down by Toyota Motor Corporation for a job after interviewing for a job as an
engineer, leaving him jobless for quite some time. He started making scooters
of his own at home, and spurred on by his neighbors, finally started his own
business.
5.
Akio Morita: You may not have heard of Morita but you've
undoubtedly heard of his company, Sony. Sony's first product was a rice cooker
that unfortunately didn't cook rice so much as burn it, selling less than 100
units. This first setback didn't stop Morita and his partners as they pushed
forward to create a multi-billion dollar company.
6.
Bill Gates: Gates didn't seem like a shoe-in for success
after dropping out of Harvard and starting a failed first business with
Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen called Traf-O-Data. While this early idea
didn't work, Gates' later work did, creating the global empire that is Microsoft.
7.
Harland David Sanders: Perhaps better known as Colonel Sanders of
Kentucky Fried Chicken fame, Sanders had a hard time selling his chicken at
first. In fact, his famous secret chicken recipe was rejected 1,009 times
before a restaurant accepted it.
8.
Walt Disney: Today Disney rakes in billions from
merchandise, movies and theme parks around the world, but Walt Disney himself
had a bit of a rough start. He was fired by a newspaper editor because,
"he lacked imagination and had no good ideas." After that, Disney
started a number of businesses that didn't last too long and ended with
bankruptcy and failure. He kept plugging along, however, and eventually found a
recipe for success that worked.
Scientists and Thinkers
These people are often
regarded as some of the greatest minds of our century, but they often had to
face great obstacles, the ridicule of their peers, and the animosity of
society. Students who complete online science degrees can learn skills in scientific inquiry and
advance their education in disciplines like biochemistry, biology, quantum
physics, and more.
9.
Albert Einstein: Most of us take Einstein's name as synonymous
with genius, but he didn't always show such promise. Einstein did not speak
until he was four and did not read until he was seven, causing his teachers and
parents to think he was mentally handicapped, slow and anti-social. Eventually,
he was expelled from school and was refused admittance to the Zurich
Polytechnic School. It might have taken him a bit longer, but most people would
agree that he caught on pretty well in the end, winning the Nobel Prize and
changing the face of modern physics.
10.
Charles Darwin: In his early years, Darwin gave up on having a
medical career and was often chastised by his father for being lazy and too
dreamy. Darwin himself wrote, "I was considered by all my masters and my
father, a very ordinary boy, rather below the common standard of intellect."
Perhaps they judged too soon, as Darwin today is well-known for his scientific
studies.
11.
Robert Goddard: Goddard today is hailed for his research and
experimentation with liquid-fueled rockets, but during his lifetime his ideas
were often rejected and mocked by his scientific peers who thought they were
outrageous and impossible. Today rockets and space travel don't seem
far-fetched at all, due largely in part to the work of this scientist who
worked against the feelings of the time.
12.
Isaac Newton: Newton was undoubtedly a genius when it came
to math, but he had some failings early on. He never did particularly well in

so poorly in fact that an uncle took charge and sent him off to Cambridge where
he finally blossomed into the scholar we know today.
13.
Socrates: Despite leaving no written records behind,
Socrates is regarded as one of the greatest philosophers of the Classical era.
Because of his new ideas, in his own time he was called "an immoral
corrupter of youth" and was sentenced to death. Socrates didn't let this
stop him and kept right on, teaching up until he was forced to poison himself.
14.
Robert Sternberg: This big name in psychology received a “C” in
his first college introductory psychology class with his teacher telling him
that, "there was already a famous Sternberg in psychology and it was
obvious there would not be another." Ouch! Sternberg showed him, however,
graduating from Stanford with exceptional distinction in psychology, summa cum
laude, and Phi Beta Kappa and eventually becoming the President of the American
Psychological Association. This should inspire students at traditional and accredited online colleges to always strive to succeed, no matter what anyone says along
the way.
Inventors
These inventors
changed the face of the modern world, but not without a few failed prototypes
along the way. Students interested in designing innovative new machines and
systems can sharpen their skills by completingonline engineering
degrees.
15.
Thomas Edison: In his early years, teachers told Edison he
was "too stupid to learn anything." Work was no better, as he was

inventor, Edison made 1,000 unsuccessful attempts at inventing the light bulb.
Of course, all those unsuccessful attempts finally resulted in the design that
worked.
16.
Orville and Wilbur
Wright: These brothers battled
depression and family illness before starting the bicycle shop that would lead
them to experimenting with flight. After numerous attempts at creating flying
machines, several years of hard work, and tons of failed prototypes, the
brothers finally created a plane that could get airborne and stay there.
Public Figures
From politicians to
talk show hosts, these figures had a few failures before they came out on top.
17.
Winston Churchill: This Nobel Prize-winning, twice-elected Prime
Minster of the United Kingdom wasn't always as well regarded as he is today.
Churchill struggled in school and failed the sixth grade. After school he faced
many years of political failures, as he was defeated in every election for
public office until he finally became the Prime Minister at the ripe old age of
62.
18.
Abraham Lincoln: While today he is remembered as one of the
greatest leaders of our nation, Lincoln's life wasn't so easy. In his youth he
went to war a captain and returned a private (if you're not familiar with

for tv."
20.

president. If you drop out, you get to be vice president."
Hollywood Types
These faces ought to
be familiar from the big screen, but these actors, actresses and directors saw
their fair share of rejection and failure before they made it big. Students
interested in careers in acting could benefit from online liberal arts
degrees that expose them to
multiple disciplines and give them a broad knowledge base to draw from when
considering how to play a role.
22.
Jerry Seinfeld: Just about everybody knows who Seinfeld is,
but the first time the young comedian walked on stage at a comedy club, he

telling her to try another profession. She, of course, proved them all wrong.
28.
Harrison Ford: In his first film, Ford was told by the movie
execs that he simply didn't have what it takes to be a star. Today, with
numerous hits under his belt, iconic portrayals of characters like Han Solo and
Indiana Jones, and a career that stretches decades, Ford can proudly show that
he does, in fact, have what it takes.
29.
Marilyn Monroe: While Monroe's star burned out early, she did
have a period of great success in her life. Despite a rough upbringing and
being told by modeling agents that she should instead consider being a
secretary, Monroe became a pin-up, model and actress that still strikes a chord
with people today.
30.

around war.

million copies worldwide.

only five years through her hard work and determination.

starting point for some major changes to art that ushered in the modern era.

success.
